The Launching of the website represents another important step forward in the efforts by the Sri Lanka – Thailand Business Council in cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo, to strengthen the business and economic ties between Thailand and Sri Lanka. The Website will facilitate Sri Lankan and Thai businessmen to obtain vital information in the areas of trade, investment and tourism and widen the data base needed by businessmen of the two countries to do their business and to make direct contacts with their counterparts. It also adds a new dimension to the efforts by the Council to revitalize trade and investment through modern and latest technological means.
Economic relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka in various areas, particularly trade have registered a satisfactory trend over the past several years. Nevertheless, more opportunities still exist for businessmen of the two countries to make further contribution to our growing economic ties in views of the sizes of our markets and the pace of development in our two countries, which has resulted in a greater demand for a wide range of products and commodities. I, therefore, welcome the timely efforts by the Sri Lanka – Thailand Business Council to further strengthen our business and economic ties through the launching of the website. Its my sincere hope that the website will create greater awareness regarding business opportunities in Thailand and Sri Lanka and generate more activities among our businessmen, thereby constructively contributing to the expansion of trade, investment and tourism between our two countries.I also would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere felicitations to the Council on this occasion and to join the Council in inviting both Sri Lankan and Thai businessmen to make use of this website.
